Monday, May 16, 2011

believe me when I say that I got something for his punk ass...

I'm feeling a little feisty right now...
I got my allergy shots a couple hours ago
and had a reaction,
itchy hives.
To stop that in its tracks,
the doctor on call gave me a shot of epinephrine,
I guess to avert potential anaphylaxis.
While I was sitting there twitching,
the doc also made me take a dose of benadryl.
I asked if they would cancel each other out, heh!
The doctor and 2 nurses (I am sooo important!)
asked if there was anyone they should call.
Uh yeah, NO.
I feel fine now...still a bit itchy.

OK, on with my list of good things for today:

1) This idea!
One of the engineers @ work
heard I like old school typewriters and
 sent me the link,
cool yeah?!
2) Distributing these cookies to
people who make me laugh!
3) 3 more days of work this week!
4) finding perfect gifts for kid friends!
5) Keanu Reeves movies, sigh.

Scrapping the Music - Dream Big

This rounds challenge at Scrapping the Music is
Dream Big by Ryan Shupe & The RubberBand.

I met Sharon Wheat while visiting an art show in SF
and was invited to her studio to play.

She was teasing me about having an itchy
photographic trigger finger,
which set off a gigglefest.
Such a joy-full moment!

: .)

Come and play along!!!

gorgeous boy!

this pix has nothing to do with this post, but I love it, so I'm puttin' it here.

I've been neglecting this lil ole blog.
I realized that when I had to stop running,
all my motivation & creativity just flew away.
I think once I stop feeling sorry for myself,
I can get back on track...

anyway, to reroute that negativity into some positivity,
I think I'll restart my 5 good things lists...
I've been enjoying this blog.

Scrapping the Music - Falling Slowly

The current challenge for Scrapping the Music is

My homage to hummingbirds continues,
I was inspired by a card from my friend Esther.

I really wanted to do some hand embroidery, so I incorporated it with my lyric choice,
which I'd like to think of as a message to the hb babies.

Doncha just love the effect of salt in watercolor???

(click the photo to see a larger image, the smaller one doesn't do the piece justice!)

Good Days - Scrapping the Music

I've got a post planned for my Texas trip, just trying to gather my thots enough to sound articulate.

Did you know that "articulate" (uttered clearly in distinct syllables) and "articulate" (using language easily and fluently; having facility with words) are spelled the same, but have different meanings???

Sorry, I digress...

Check out the current challenge for Scrapping the Music.
The song for this round is Good Days by Alain Clark.
I only now watched the video...previously, I had just listened to the song.
Uh, Alain is kinda beautiful : .)  ok A LOT beautiful!

My piece (click on it to see it bigger):

You might recognize it.  Yes, I used a previously created piece,
but my excuse is I had a deadline,
and I was on vacation : .)
I ran out of time before I left on my trip to make a new piece.

Its a fav photo of myself at the Queen's Pool on Kauai in 2005.
A tropical paradise, sigh...

In other artistic news...

Here are some pages I worked on while I was at my Dad's.
(I'm playing along with Julie Fei-Fan Balzer's Art Journal Every Day.
Click on the link at the right for details.)
I didn't want to haul a lot of supplies with me,
so I only took the journal, a set of watercolors, 2 brushes, a Sharpie marker, and a white gel pen.

I drew the circles first.  I painted them.  Then I realized that the paint dulled the ink,
so I went back over them to make them stand out.
I think it took about 3 days to finish the piece (its a 9 x 12 page!)
I really, really like it!

For this page, I used the bar code off that destination tag they put on your luggage.
Brain freeze, I can't think of the name...
and I cut out Texas and watercolored it like the Texas state flag.
It needs a star, or a heart in the middle.
Still incomplete, too.
I think I'll title it
"Don't Mess With Texas!"
or
"Deep in the Heart of..."

This graphic is from a MGD box.  Beeah.  Isn't she cool?
This piece also needs more development.

I've got a couple more pages, but they're embarassing and not very creative.
Just trying to make it to the page.
I think I've made it 10 out of 16 days so far!

My Beloved Los Tiburones are playing their 2nd game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs
against the Los Angeles Kings!!!
I'm excited!!!

Gooooooooo SHARKS!!!

Hanging by a Moment - Scrapping the Music

The song for the newest challenge at Scrapping the Music is
Hanging by a Moment by Lifehouse.

there are moments where I feel replete with life and love.
and times when I wonder
when will that hole be filled?

I am...
 completely incomplete

*     *     *     *     *

I've been enjoying these posts by Amanda Johnson
called Outfit to Layout...
 Such a clever idea!
I scoped out the ensemble a co-worker was wearing on Friday
and turned it into my layout for my HbaM piece.

I kinda wish I asked if I could take a photo of her,
so you could see how I transformed her outfit to layout : .)

Imelda was wearing a tan cardigan, plaid shirt, jeans,
and red ballerina flats with flowers on the tops.
Cute and fun!!!

Come and play along!!!
