something's fishy!

my house is stinky. I pan grilled some tuna, salmon, and swordfish this weekend.
this is why I never cook and eat fish at home! it takes forever to get rid of the smell!!!

any suggestions for clearing the air over here??? I've been burning candles, sprayed Febreeze about, and even have a Glade plug-in, plugged in and nada is working.

anyone, anyone???

if only I could spray lemon juice over everything!

did some chores, some art, exercised, hit Rubberama, the rubber stamp convention with Mary, and some laying about. but not much of that!!!

here's the art...

came across e.e. cummings i carry your heart poem and what with halloween. love, and all, I had to use part of the poem with a human heart. i was gonna put some names in the heart, but...

and then there's this...been wanting to use the pix Cece took a few weeks ago. paired it with Joseph's Campbell's "Follow Your Bliss" quote. not so sure of the colors, but I played around with the piece for so long, I had to glue something down. used my new (old/new) dymo label maker, interchangeable font wheels, embosses like a knife thru butter, or something like that. pretty excited to complete an actual scrapbook layout!

getting excited for halloween. MadRetz, shan, Donna & I are off to Disneyland on Friday. can't wait!!! so looking forward to getting out of town! since I'll miss the costume contest at work, I wore my spider web tights this past Friday.

who'm I trying to kid, I'd wear these any day...everyday is halloween, ya know!!!

ok, last but not least...my 5 things!

1) cool hockey/skully t-shirt from MadRetz!
2) staying within my budget at Rubberama!
3) happy mail!
4) getting some art done!
5) a balanced checkbook!

Aren't the tie dyed paper flowers just so cool?!

Defying Gravity and Other Mundane Bits from this Weekend

Its amazing what these baby gymnasts can do!

Wow!!!

(And they've made the routines way harder than the compulsories that I learned in high school.)

Here's my Sis on the uneven parallel bars...

And on the beam!

Another competitor on the vault.

One of Sis's teammates on the beam. What a lovely pose!!!

Of course, Sis being the perfectionist she is wasn't happy with her scores. (I think she won 3 medals!) However, her team took first place!

Made me miss those glory days and become more conscious of the ache in my back. LOL!

I did some homework, and some work in a mini album (which I'm too shy to show...)

Below is the shrine (?) I started last weekend and finished up today. I bot a kit from Invoke Arts. At the rubber stamp shows, they sell mixed media goodies as well as stamps.

The piece is based on Nirvana's song Heart Shaped Box, altho' I have a different interpretation of the subject matter in the lyrics, I think. The heart is from a Lotteria card, circled by tagboard. Some paper roses, rhinestones, velvet ribbon and crocheted trim. Feels like it needs something more...

While I'm here, I should list my 5 good things...
(from the past week, not just today.)

1) Email from Sharmaine, all the way from Australia!
2) Phone call from my Linda!
3) Sharks winning 3 games in a row so far!
4) Lunch with the Yees & hangin' with my Girl!
5) Happy mail from Susan!

Hope you had a good weekend and have a good week!

daisies are the friendliest flower

I don't think these are daisies tho'. (Photo taken by my girl, Cece!) It was pretty cold today, I don't think it will be flip-flop weather for much longer! (I'm looking forward to Doc Martens weather!)

Hum, an interesting day today. Why is it that I can't ever accomplish what's on the current "to do list?"

Went to the gym. Tried some running. Sciatic pain. Still not good. sigh.

Read for a bit.

Bot groceries at Safeway, broccoli shred was in stock. That made my day!

Laundry. Feeding. Dishwashing. Ribbon organizing. A bit of art. And I mean a bit.

Hockey now. GO SHARKS!!!

Tommorow, gymnastics meet. My lil friend, Sis is a gymnast!!!

Oh, then homework. I am enjoying my class, but homework is putting a cramp in my other creative time!!!

I hope you're having a gud weekend!!! : .)

Carded!!!

GiGgle!!!
Soooo, if you buy root touch-up, that implies a certain age, right?!
I got carded at Target purchasing (alcoholic) fizzy lifting drinks.
I suppose a teenage cashier wouldn't make the connection, huh?
hee!!!

enJOY your weekend!

So I quickly threw this card together for my stamp club swap and decided that I liked it too much to give away...Except for the letters, which are Thickers, the entire card is made out of the same sheet of paper, Daisy Ds Wonder Years (I think...)

As I type, my Dad is on his way for a short visit. Ironically, I've caught a cold, or my allergies are flaring. I say ironically b/c I was sick the entire 2 weeks he was here at X-mas.

Psychosomatic much?

Planned events for the weekend include:

Dad replacing my screen door! Of couse, now that summer's over.

Walking to Starbucks for coffee and chai and then to the Farmer's Market.

Some art? Some exercise?

Some other local event. Last weekend was filled with events. Next weekend is filled with events. This weekend...The San Jose Mariachi Festival. I don't think my Dad is into mariachi music.

We may go to the Mystery Spot. Or the BigFoot Museum. Or maybe wine tasting. Or maybe the Moffett Field Museum.

So many choices, so little time!!! : .)

enJOY your weekend, y'all!!!

Cake or Death?!

So, yesterday, I like, baked. Totally!

This begs the question...
Cake or Death?
The Lego version. hee, hee, haha! giggle, snort!

My Momma's Orange Meringue Torte. So ugly, yet so tasty!
Paul, Biking Buddy Paul, not to be mistaken with Concert Buddy Paul, said
"Its the best cake I've ever had!"
Oh wow! Way to schmooze the cake maker Dude!!!
The only problem with a homemade cake is that you have homemade cake in your home and if you're me, you eat homemade cake.
I only had 3 pieces!!! Little ones.
Yeah.

Why does Christian Bale look like he's biting the insides of his cheeks when he talks?
(Tangent, I get that from Susan! Hi Susan!!!)

That's it except for my 5 good things for today (dusting those puppies off!)...

1) Urban raccoon! He looked at me, I looked at him. It was like kismet! We has "a moment." Then he ditched it into the storm drain, nonchalantly, that's fo' sho'.
I guess we weren't meant to be together after all!
2) 1/2 day at work!
3) CAKE!
4) Cake appreciation!
5) Dr. Steve after an eval, Graston (using torture instruments), & ART (giggle!)
said, "I think you need a goal. I think you can go ahead and train for that marathon."
{After we get my pain under control, of course!}
YAHOO!!!

Ya understand why I love the man?!

Hood 2 Coast in Pictures - Finally!!!

I was holding off on posting these pixs b/c I was a little sad about the not running thing. Thursday and Friday, I had no pain, so I was thinking I was on the road to healing, but yesterday and today, not so good. sigh. I have an appointment to see (the hot...I guess I'll have to stop saying that, he's gonna be a daddy soon!) Dr. Steve tomorrow to get a second opinion and determination if there's even a small chance I can train for Disneyworld Marathon. I'm thinking not.
(The smallest boo hoo here, positive thinking, right?!)

On to the Hood 2 Coast photo montage!

A lovely view of Mt. Hood from Sandy, OR. I think you can still ski/snowboard. In August! How cool (haha!) is that???

Mode of transportation! Check out the neat reflection of my van-mates on the tailgate!

Robi, Barb, Charles, Tasha, Scott leaning over. Too bad most of the peeps are not looking into the camera!

Robi's equipment, Nikes...Aren't they awesome!!! Love that Live Strong (Lance Armstrong) yellow!

Charles making sure I stay hydrated! Love the support of my team members!

Scott supporting Charles. "Go runner, good work!"

Robi lookin' really fast! That's his sis and bro in the background. They came out to support us too!

Handoff! Great transistion!!! Nice smile Barb!!!

Thank goodness we left Boring! LOL!

Nike is one of the sponsors of the race, of course, headquartered in Beaverton, OR. They had decorated a bunch of Volkswagon vans (running icon Steve Prefontaine in this instance) and set up mini museums in each about the history of Nike running shoes. They literally copied the waffle pattern from a waffle iron for the tread on their first shoes.

Downtown Portland in the twilight! Right by the Willamette! That's Will-AM-ette, dammit!

Tasha handing off to Annalise, team mate from the other van! Where's that sense of urgency, Annalise?!

Some runner's cute shoes : .)

Barb cooling down from her leg. So awesome when your entire team gets out of the van to support you!!!

Surreptitious, gratuitous picture of a cute runner boy! giggle! Hurray for 10X zoom!!! I can't even begin to tell you how many beautiful people (men!) I saw!

Barb again, after her leg!!!

The finish line in Seaside, OR 197 miles and 30 hours later!!!

View from "the condo!" Thanks Jackie!!!
I always scratch my head when I see people in the pool when they are staying at the beach.
I suppose in OR the ocean is pretty cold, LOL!!! Robi went it!!!

Classic Seaside shot!

Scott and I...Shiny happy tired runners! I'm smiling so largely b/c I was DONE running!!!

Sunset in the beer garden! Yes, there's a beer garden at the end. Of course, I drank wine. In tiny cups. I don't know how many, Scott kept buying them for me!!! I was really happy (read: inebriated!) LOL!!!

I don't have enough words describe the feeling of running in such beautiful country. Oregon is gorgeous! My van mates were so much fun to spend time with! I had such a great time (altho' regretting the speedy downhill on my last leg!) I was making plans to not come back to Cali. I wonder if they'd hire me in the Washington office?! : .)

I smell some good cooking going on in the complex, reminds me its dinner time. Got a cake to finish assembling too! And art cards for a swap, and, and, and...
There's never enough hours in a weekend!!!

I hope you enjoyed the pictures!!! : .)
